About the Event
Winter Tonic Yoga Workshop
An evening that focuses on the seasonal elements and energy of winter through the principles of Traditional Chinese medicine and yoga.
Winter asks for deep rest. In nature we see the days shorten with less sunlight, trees letting go of their final leaves with many plants slowing down their growth, and a conserving of energy with cooler temperatures.
Our bodies require the same however if we are not in tune we keep pushing through until burn out. This is a time for us to slow down, tune in with our bodies, release the yang energy of being in a constant state of doing, and focus our energy inward. Replenish, nurture, nourish, and rest our selves.
Winter Season:
Element- water (go with the flow)
Emotion - fear/trust
Organs - kidneys (yin), bladder (yang)
Sense Organ - ears
Colour- black
Yin/Yang - yin
In this workshop, we focus on:
- A yoga sequence with poses supporting the organs of winter (kidneys & bladder), and our base chakras (root & sacral). Grounding and nourishing
- Breathwork to help cleanse the airways and warm up the body to help release toxins
- Support and boost the immune system by releasing fear, the main emotion of winter
- Intentional movement to ground our energy and bring our mind, and bodies into harmony
- Integrate deep rest with a sound bath meditation. This will help calm the nervous systems out of any survival/ stressed state which can help bring heart rate and function, digestion, mental clarity, and immunity into a healthier balance.
